Athletes Foot, Athletes Feet, Fungus and Ugly Nails
Athletes foot typically refers to itching, redness and irritation of the forefoot between the toes. Athletes foot can also get underneath the toes too.
Athletes foot is caused by an infection that has worked its way underneath the toes and skin on the foot. If an infection has spread to underneath the toenail, then they may become thick and demented. It is warm and moist under the toe and an ideal location for fungi to thrive. Bacteria may also grow along with the fungus, compounding the problem. Fungal infections on the foot are very difficult to eliminate.
Many individuals contact athletes feet in gyms and locker rooms as the fungus spreads from one foot to the other on the warm wet floors. Athletes foot is also more prevalent on people who have issues with sweaty feet. Athletes foot can also spread from the sharing of products that carry germs, like towels, shoes and wash cloths.
Athletes feet may initially develop between the toes and then work its way under the toenails. It may even to other warm and moist areas like the underarms, groin, and on any abrasions like cuts and scrapes.
