Why To Take Your Diabetes Medications
Are you taking your diabetes medications? According to a study published in Scotland and reported at an ADA meeting, only about 35% of people with Type Two Diabetes take the prescribed dose of oral medications. Only 33% of diabetics filled their prescriptions enough to take at least 90% of their prescribed medications. In patients that were supposed to take two or more types of diabetic medications: less than 15% took the prescribed dose.
The survey studied 36 months of diabetic prescription records of three thousand patients with type 2 diabetes. The survey demonstrated that patients prescribed for one pill daily had the best compliance. The more medications that were prescribed, the lower the compliance. In Britain, all prescription medications are paid for by universal healthy care, so the price of meds was not a factor.
Multiple studies in the U.S. and Britain, and round the world demonstrate the following:
A Treatment plan and controlling glucose levels prevent the short and long term health consequences related to diabetes.
The American Diabetes Association has demonstrated that most patients are not taking their prescribed dose of anti diabetes medications.
