Foot Care - Foot Massage

A foot massage can be both enjoyable and beneficial to your foot care health. A foot massage can be very relaxing and put you in a great emotional state. There are even new practices in medicine devoted to the study of massage and foot care. This field of study is called reflexology.

Foot reflexology involves applying the right amount of pressure to certain reflex points in the feet. There is some date suggesting that reflexology may even help to prevent or cure certain foot problems. Foot reflexology is based on the theory that there are reflex points located at various points in our bodies. These reflex points are located at various points in our bodies. These reflex points are connected with our brain and essentials. A person trained in the art of reflexology may be able to determine and treat disease by the way these reflex points respond to certain pressures applied to them. A trained reflexologist may then be able to apply the right amount of compression to certain pressure points in the foot to cure diseases.

Foot Therapy - Your Foot Massage
First assess your environment for a place where you will be able to relax comfortably. A good place would be a sofa where you can put your feet up. When getting your foot massage treatment, listen to a soft soothing music to get all of your tendons to relax. For the person giving the foot massage, traditional massage oils work well.

Before giving the foot massage treatment, check to see that the feet are clean and dry. A foot bath in a solution of Epson salts is a good preparation prior to the foot massage. Dry the feet before beginning the foot massage.

Methods of the Foot Massage.
  1. Gently roll the ankles from side to side to loosen the ankle joint. Apply this treatment softly until all of the muscles and joints are relaxed.
  2. Take the foot with one hand and massage the sole of the foot in the other hand. Roll the thumb back and forth under the sole of the foot.
  3. Hold the foot from both sides and slowly stroke the foot. Slowly stroke the foot from the bottom up and back down again.
  4. Kneading the soles of the feet has been found to be very effective. When kneading, you hold the foot in one hand and knead the soles of the foot in the other hand using your knuckles.
  5. Finger walking involves pressing down on small sections of the foot using your fingers from side to side and row to row.
