Bromhydrosis and Foot Odor

Do you have an unmanageable foot odor and need a remedy? Do you have very sweaty, smelly feet? Perspiration is usually healthy and normal, but things can sometimes get out of control and you might require a foot odor remedy. Also called bromhydrosis, excessive foot odor can make you anxious to even take off your shoes in front of others. We all sweat more in hot, humid weather or when engaging in athletic activity. Those afflicted with bromhydrosis will have sweaty and smelly feet year round, even while at rest. For those that may have bromhydrosis, there are foot odor treatments.

Bromhydrosis is generally not a major health problem despite the growth of fungus and bacteria that grow in affected areas. But these microorganisms may lead to infections and athletes feet, so do pursue foot odor treatments.

What are some of the causes of foot odor? One of the top causes of foot odor is excessive sweating of the feet, also known as hyperhydrosis. Moisture can also add to hyperhydrosis, which provides ideal conditions for yeast and bacteria growth. This fungi and bacteria break down, producing a stinky foot odor, and you need a solution for this little ugly problem immediately.

Other contributing factors to foot odor are
  • Assorted dermatological conditions
  • Stress and Anxiety
If your excessive sweaty feet is caused by concurrent health problems, you may also notice sweaty palms, and under your groin and arms. In such cases, excessive sweating may indicate symptoms of other health conditions. If you suspect any underlying health conditions, please consult your doctor.

There are a number of foot odor remedies for the treatment of Bromhydrosis.
  • The first step to solving this little ugly problem is to keep your feet warm and dry. Don't leave your feet in an environment where fungi and bacteria can grow.
  • Shower regularly with anti-bacterial soap.
  • Use foot powders and sprays designed to keep your feet dry.
  • Wearing sandals in warm weather may air out the feet and prevent the buildup of moisture.
  • Clean or discard your smelly shoes if they can not be cleaned properly.
  • If you have foot odor, change your shoes and socks often.
  • Especially with gym shoes, rotate regularly.
  • Use foot insoles that can be rotated often to prevent a foot odor buildup.
