Morton's Toe, Treatment and Prevention
Morton's toe is a fairly common condition where the second toe is longer than the big toe. In Morton's Toe Syndrome, walking and running can put extra pressure on the balls of the forefoot, leading to pain and discomfort. The length of the second toe going longer than the big toe puts extra pressure on the forefoot while walking of exercising and can cause calluses to develop.
Suitable treatment for Mortons toe involves choosing the right shoe to take off some of the added pressure to the forefoot. Choose footwear with a high and wide toe box. You might want to try to wear shoes that are large enough to accommodate the longest toe, in this case the second one.
Quality orthotic arch supports can help reduce pressures on the forefoot by realigning the feet, allowing for a proper walking motion. Metatarsal pads can provide stress relief for the balls of the feet, and help in the treatment of Morton's toe. Proper shoes and orthotics help realign the feet for a proper motion and take off some of the added pressures on the forefoot.
If these conservative treatments fail, please consult your physician.
