Give Yourself a Great Pedicure

A Pedicure for Natural Foot Care

You should spend an hour each week dedicated to foot care. Buy all the necessary supplies needed for giving yourself your own pedicure.

In the first part of your pedicure and foot care program, give your feet a good cleaning. Get a large tray that you will use to give yourself a good foot bath. To the tray, add luke warm water an a herbal tea. Some high quality herbs that you may use to make an herbal tea include calendula, chamomile, clove, clay sage, lavender and marshmallow. Add a couple drops of essential tree oil to the mix.

Soak your feet for 15-20 minutes. Soaking your feet in this solution will help to clean and soften the calluses for an easier removal later. Clean out in and around your toenails during the foot soak. After this soak, remove the softened calluses with a pumice stone, rasp, or wand. Use an emory board to smooth down any corns found on the feet.

Dry your feet and leg thoroughly following this treatment. Make sure to dry your feet between the toes. Remove any old paint from your toenails at this point. Try a skin exfoliatior and apply it to your feet. An exfoliator will help you smooth out any rough areas on your feet. Rinse out the solution and then dry your feet.

Push back the cuticles. Trim and smooth out any cuticles that have rough or flaky edges. Trim your toe nail straight across. Then file your nails so that they are smooth. Apply feet lotion to your feet for five minutes on each foot. Clean off any old paint from your nails with a non-acetone nail polish remover. Before painting, apply a base coat to the nails. Apply two coats of paint over the base coat. After your nail polish dries, apply a powder to your feet that will make them smell good.

A coconut fiber brush or a loofa sponge are excellent for flaky dry feet. These tools will be good for smoothing out any dry flaky sections of skin hanging off your feet. Keep these tools clean by washing and drying them once a week. A daily brushing of your feet will keep them smooth and scale free.
